Copersucar, the Brazil’s largest company on sugar and ethanol trade, and Eco-Energy, one of the leading trading companies of biofuels in the United States, have recently announced the internationalization of their operations of ethanol, through a joint investment in Eco-Energy. That operation aims to strength and expand the integrated platform of biofuel and, thus, assuming the global leadership position.

After that transaction, the joined companies will have a production of 10 billion liters (2.6 billion gallons) of ethanol per year, about 12% of the global market and a significant presence in the two major markets of this biofuel: Brazil and the United States.

“With this investment, we make Copersucar a global company on biofuel market, expanding its operation scale in the two world`s largest ethanol markets – the United States and Brazil – as much in production as consumption volumes”, declared the chairman of the Board of Directors of Copersucar, Luís Roberto Pogetti.

The transaction is depending on the approval by regulatory authorities of the Government of the United States.
