Deutsche Messe AG restructures business operations in Brazil
Deutsche Messe AG assumed 100 percent ownership of Hannover Fairs Sulamérica Ltda. and will from now on operate a wholly-owned subsidiary in Brazil as it continues to expand its business there. Deutsche Messe had previously held a 51 percent share in the company. Furthermore, Valério Regente was named successor to Constantino Bäumle, the current Managing Director of Hannover Fairs Sulamérica.
Brazil is Germany’s most important trading partner in Latin America. In 2011 Germany exported goods valued at EUR 11 billion to Brazil. Brazil’s exports to Germany in 2011 were also valued at EUR 11 billion.
“Brazil offers outstanding business possibilities. We have been active there for more than 30 years. The size of the country, its natural resources, and its broad-based economy make it a target market for export-oriented companies,” explained Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Managing Board at Deutsche Messe AG. “Our expansive portfolio of capital goods trade fairs offers companies entry and sales opportunities in this rapidly growing market. With this restructuring we have sent a clear message about our business development in the future,” added Goetz Doermann, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Messe AG and Managing Director at Hannover Fairs International GmbH.
Hannover Fairs Sulamérica is now responsible for all of Deutsche Messe’s business operations in Brazil, which include organizing trade events in Brazil as well as recruiting exhibitors and visitors for events in Germany and worldwide.
Constantino Bäumle, who has represented Deutsche Messe in Brazil since 1979, will remain Managing Director until his retirement, during which time he will prepare Valério Regente for his future responsibilities.
Brena Bäumle, who until now was also a managing director at Hannover Fairs Sulamérica, will in the future concentrate solely on her own services company, Bäumle Organizacao de Feiras Ltda., which will provide Hannover Fairs Sulamérica with such services as industry consulting, market research, and organizing seminars and business meetings. Thus Deutsche Messe and the Bäumle family remain closely connected.
